Are you a nonprofit or social impact leader curious about how to make your collaborations more effective? This podcast mini-series, created by the Sustained Collaboration Network and the Network for Nonprofit and Social Impact at Northwestern University, highlights the stories of funders and leaders with impactful integrated organizations (e.g., mergers, asset transfers), shared projects, shared service agreements, and alliances/networks. The podcast builds on two reports, available at sustainedcollab.org, with over 20 case studies highlighting practices that produced positive outcomes for collaborations.

DVBEDS: An alliance supporting domestic violence survivors
In this episode, I talk with Paige Flink, former CEO and board member of The Family Place, and Suzanne Smith of Social Impact Architects. They share the story of DVBeds and discuss how alliances can offer better-shared services to clients through coordination.
DVBeds is a network of independent domestic violence shelters in Texas. Under a systems alignment theory of change, the program aligns the capacities of the organizations to serve the most individuals and families. The network records real-time bed availability and ensures a warm handoff so that domestic violence survivors don’t have to call a list of shelters to find safety.
