This podcast mini-series, created by the Sustained Collaboration Network and the Network for Nonprofit and Social Impact at Northwestern University, highlights the stories of funders and leaders with impactful integrated organizations (e.g., mergers, asset transfers), shared projects, shared service agreements, and alliances/networks. The podcast builds on two reports, available at sustainedcollab.org, with over 20 case studies highlighting practices that produced positive outcomes for collaborations.

Mergers for Greater Mission Impact: The Rebuilding Exchange
In this episode, we focus on mergers, an underutilized tool for social impact in the nonprofit sector. This episode features an interview with Aina Gutierrez, Executive Director of the Rebuilding Exchange, and Lauri Alpern, President of Open Door Advisors. They talk about the process and results of the merger they led between the Chicago Rebuilding Exchange and the Evanston Rebuilding Warehouse. The merger was supported through a grant from the Mission Sustainability Initiative.
